Induction and Oath-taking by the 2017-2019 TMI Board of Trustees and Officers

Induction and Oath-taking by the 2017-2019 TMI Board of Trustees and Officers

The newly elected Tambayayong Mainit, Incorporated Board of Trustees and Officers for 2017-2019 were sworn into office and took their oath to discharge their duties and responsibilities on the 2nd of February (Philippine time) and 3rd of February (USA time) 2017. Philippines Supreme Court Justice nominee, the Honorable Justice Japar B. Dimaampao of the Court of Appeals-Philippines administered the oath via Skype. (Justice Dimaampao also happens to be married to TMI board member, Ma. Gina Villapañe-Dimaampao.)

The Skype-coverage highlighted the trans-Pacific, transcontinental composition of the organization. Skyping as a bloc from Mainit, Surigao del Norte, Philippines were TMI-Mainit VP Magnita Labrador, board members Mark Mosca, Maritess Dulin, Christine Paloma, Maricel Endico and Leticia Mosende. Beaming separately from Manila were board members Peter Sy and Gina Dimaampao. Skyping farthest from Mainit, all the way from the US East Coast was TMI-Manila VP Cecile Dumdum, who is still in NYC at the moment but will be moving back to Manila in March 2017. Attending from the midwest was board member Edgar Reyes of Mesquite, Texas. Posting from the US West Coast were JR Gatpolintan from San Francisco, CA and returning newly-elected President, Nora Douglas from southern California. The latter was joined in La Mirada, CA by board member Nancy Leparto of Houston, Texas, who was visiting California at the time. Board members Malou Fulgado (US) and Lorna Mosende (Manila) could not make it to the ceremonies.

In his inspirational speech to the group, Justice Dimaampao congratulated the organization for the projects that it has done and that are ongoing to help uplift the lives of Mainitnons. He also shared a few of his favorite aphorisms. He stressed the importance of humility in leadership and service. He ended with, "life is better when you are happy. Life is at its best when people are happy because of you". And as if on cue to live by example, he excused himself to check on his cooking.

Also, without missing a beat, the newly re-elected president, Nora Douglas led the reinvigorated and inspired group back to work right after the ceremonies. A lively initial planning and brainstorming of ideas and dreams to pursue in next 2 years transpired.

Congratulations and padajon!
